Jali Bakary Konteh from Brikama, Gambia is the son of Dembo Konteh and grandson of Alhaji Bai Konteh. The duo of Dembo Konteh and Kausu Kouyate would have been the first kora players I saw live back in 1988. I photographed Jali Bakary Konteh with another band Bafula two years ago (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157672381994656/). More recently he has been collaborating with Huw Bennett including a band Minyanta.
