23rd January 2018 at the Royal Concert Hall (Strathclyde Suite), Glasgow.

Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: United States. Style: Traditional Irish Folk.

Lineup: Liz Carroll (fiddle), Seán Óg Graham (g), Conor McCreanor (b) and guests: Catriona McKay (clarsach), Niamh Dunne (v/fiddle).

Liz Carroll from Chicago was the All Ireland Champion on fiddle aged 18 in 1975. This was only the second time I had seen her live, the other was with John Doyle at the 2006 Return to Camden festival. The two musicians accompanying her also performed with Niamh Dunne earlier in the evening (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157668911950059/). Apart from "The Yellow Tinker" every tune she played was one of her own compositions.
