Saze is a form of vocal music from Southern Albanian. It is iso-polyphonic, with two or more melodic vocal lines and a multi-voiced drone. The singers and musicians who form this project were brought together by veteran producer Joe Boyd and his two Albanian co-producers Edit Pula and Andrea Goertler. Radio presenter Lucy Durán (seen as one of the dancers in photos # 06 and # 07) also played a role in encouraging the project with a three-part series of broadcasts on Albanian music in 2011. As well as the songs, there were several instrumentals.
