27th January 2017 at Drygate Brewery, Glasgow.
Late Night Sessions, Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.
Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk.
Lineup: Michaela "Kaela" Rowan (v/percussion), Ewan Macpherson (g/mandola/jaw harp), James Mackintosh (percussion/g), and guests: Dayam Khan Manganiyar (v), Jarlath Henderson (low whistle), Lauren MacColl (fiddle), Ewen Vernal (b).
Kaela Rowan is from Lochaber in the Highlands and now lives in the Scottish Borders. In the 1990s and 2000s she was part of the band Mouth Music, then in 2015 she joined Shooglenifty. Her regular accompanists are also members of that band. I took photos of them at the Borderline in December 2015, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157662465472952/. For this gig they were joined by several familiar faces on the Scottish trad music scene and Rajasthani singer Dayam Khan Manganiyar (with whom Rowan has collsborated for several years).
