Joshua Redman is from Berkeley, CA, and Brad Mehldau from Jacksonville, FL. Mehldau was part of Redman's Quartet in the mid 1990s. Both have since played on albums by the other, including Mehldau's "Highway Rider" in 2009, when his regular rhythm section was joined by another drummer and Redman. I saw this band at the Barbican in 2010. From 2011 they have started performing as a duo, and they have released an album "Nearness".
