9th July 2016 at St Ethelburga’s, London EC2.

Part of "Listen to the World" series.

Country: Columbia (British resident). Style: Colombian Folk.

Lineup: Camilo Menjura (v/g/gaita/maraca), Claudia Silva (soprano sax/maraca/guacharaca/v), Andrés Castellanos (bass g), Emeris Solis (tambor alegre/tambora/caja vallenata/maraca), and guests: Mauricio Velasierra (quena), Rafael Ayala (gaita/tambora).

This Quartet is a new project for Camilo Menjura, and it was supplemented by two guest musicians who have often played with him in the past. They performed in various combinations, not just a quartet and sextet. The concert was billed as "Landscapes from Colombia" and aimed to cover the various styles of the different regions. I have taken photos of five of the six musicians before. Menjura in his own duo, Menjura and Ayala with Cumbé, Menjura and Silva with Majagua, Menjura and Velasierra in the latter's group, and Solis with Papayera and with Soneando.
