Francy Devine was born in Hammersmith and brought up in Peterborough with Scottish parents. He has lived in Ireland since 1974 (now in Howth near Dublin) working for the trade union movement. Labour history in another of his interests.Steve Byrne from Arbroath in Angus (with a father from Ireland) and now lives in Tranent in East Lothian. He is best known as a member of Malinky. Paul Anderson is from and lives today in Tarland in Aberdeenshire. He mostly performs as a solo fiddler, though he was in Rock, Salt & Nails. Byrne produced Devine's album "My Father Told Me" released in 2014, and Anderson was one of the accompanying musicians. Their performance included many songs from the album and ranged from Traditional Irish to Traditional Scots to Anderson's tunes to compositions by Byrne, Hamish Henderson, Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger, Davy Steele and Jim Reid. This was the first time I have seen Devine. I saw Paul Anderson at Aberdeen Music Hall in the 2006 NAFCo. Plus Byrne six times, half with Malinky, once with Fred Morrison, another in a concert highlighting the Tobar an Dualchais / Kist o Riches project, and lastly as a guest of Bagdad Kemper.
