22nd April 2016 at Royal Festival Hall (Bar level 2), London SE1.
Friday Tonic (free event).
Country: Britain & other countries (British resident). Style: Western Classical.
Lineup: clarinet, oboe, french horn, bassoon, flute.
The Southbank Sinfonia was founded in 2002 and each year offers 33 musicians from around the world a bridge between music colleges and professional life playing a variety of different styles in a nine month programme. The concert was billed one of "daring" chamber works (apparently meaning composed in the early 1990s or later and fusing elements of non-classical styles), and involved four different formations.
The Wind Quintet performed Derek Bermel's "Wanderings" (1994).
