Håkan Hardenberger was born in Malmö, Sweden, and performs as a soloist with many Classical orchestras (and has commissioned several new works from contemporary composers). The Philharmonia Orchestra was founded in 1945, becoming a Resident Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in 1996. Following a concert with Hardenberger and the full orchestra there was a Post-concert performance with him and the Philharmonia strings and piano. It consisted of selections from "Both Sides Now" a 2012 album of popular tunes given classical arrangements by Roland Pöntinen. The composers of the tunes played were Joni Mitchell, Kurt Weill, Michel Legrand, Astor Piazzolla and Jan Lundgren.
