24th (or rather early hours of the 25th) January 2016 at Drygate Brewery, Glasgow.

Late Night Sessions, Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Denmark & Sweden. Style: "New Nordic Music".

Lineup: Nikolaj Busk (piano accordion), Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (violin), Ale Carr ('cittern' a.k.a. låtmandola).

This Copenhagen based trio includes two Danes and Ale Carr from Skåne in the south of Sweden. Formed after a jam session in 2009, their music has been described as a "perfect synthesis of traditional, baroque and chamber music". Carr calls his main instrument a cittern or "Swedish bouzouki", but it is what most Swedes call a låtmandola. I took photo of Busk at this festival in 2011 playing piano with the Henrik Jansberg Band, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/5400096531/.
