14th November 2015 at King and Queen, London W1.

“25th Birthday Celebrations”, Musical Traditions Folk Club, www.englishfolkinfo.org.uk/mustrad/mtc.html.

Peta Webb, Ken Hall and Keith Summers (who died in 2004) founded the Musical Traditions Club in 1990. By thern most of the source singers who laid the basis for the Folk Revival in Britian had died. Fred Jordan was still active, and became the club's first guest on the 19th October 1990. I attended the club for the first time to see Elizabeth Stewart in April 1995. Like the Keith Summers Festivals/Gatherings of recent years the was 25th Birthday Celebrations consisted of a series of sessions running from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. I attended the Saturday evening one. (plus a talk and film arranged for the occasion).

There were six invited singers at this session (Dónal Maguire, Pat Carolan, Stuart Carolan, Jim Eldon (with his wife the clog dancer Lynette), Ellen Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell).

In this photo: Peta and Ken had put togehter several display boards with flyers and photos from the life of the club.

Country: Ireland (£nglish resident). Style: Traditional Irish Folk.

Lineup: Dónal Maguire (v).

The first half of the evening featured three singers from Drogheda in County Louth. Dónal Maguire has lived in England since his teens, and I took photos of him at the Club in 2013, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157635493792442/. Pat and Stuart Carolan are member of Usher family of Tinure who have a distinct tradition of songs from the area. The best known member of the family was Mary Ann Carolan, Pat's mother and Stuart's grandmother.
