2nd May 2015 on North Street (Rotunda), Guildford, Surrey.
Free Stage, part of Trinity Folk Festival (free event).
Country: Britain. Style: Bluegrass & Folk.
Lineup: Charlotte Carrivick (v/g/mandolin/banjo), Laura Carrivick (v/fiddle/g/dobro).
The sisters, still only in their mid 20s, turned professional after leaving school in 2007. Their instrumentation and a much of their early background (e.g. at the Sore Fingers camp) are in Bluegrass, but the songs they write are more Folk influenced. Later in the day in another Festival event they performed as part of a new quartet Cardboard Fox. I also took photos of Charlotte a few weeks ago with Ben Somers (supporting Brittany Haas and Lena Jonsson), see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157651583835311/.
