Lineup: Alec Finn (bouzouki/g), Derek Hickey (accordion), Ronan O’Flaherty (fiddle), Brian McGrath (tenor banjo/p), Eleanor Shanley (v/g).

I only ever saw the originally De Danann/De Dannan once, which was in 1995. This was with Tommy Fleming rather than any of the more famous female singers (that gig was at the Mean Fiddler, Vice Power's first venue, while this one was at the KPH, Power's latest venture). This band did include Alec Finn and Derek Hickey from the 1995 lineup. Brian McGrath and Eleanor Shanley were also one time members of the ever changing original band. This evening there were references to the group's 40 year life and no mention of the rival Frankie Gavin band (for photos of this see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157649064643132/). Incidentally, both Hickey and McGrath were both for a time members of Gavin's group while it was still called Hibernian Rhapsody. The current members of this group are Finn (originally from Sheffield and a long time Co. Galway resident), Hickey (Co. Limerick), O’ Flaherty (Co. Galway), McGrath (Co. Fermanagh) and Shanley (Co. Leitrim). I've previously taken photos of Finn ina trio with Noel Hill and Tommy Linnane, and of Shanley with the Leitrim Equation 3 project (to view click on their names in my tags).
