7th December 2014 at Leytonstone Ex-Servicemens Club, London E11.

What’s Cookin’… (free with collection), www.whatscookin.co.uk/wchome.html, Part of “Peter O'Brien's Birthday Extravaganza” (O’Brien who had turned 75 produced the 70s/80s music magazine Omaha Rainbow and more recently has emerged as a singer/songwriter).

Country: Britain. Style: Rock.

Lineup: Tony Poole (v/g), Iain Whitmore (v/g).

Starry Eyed and Laughing were together as a band between 1973 and 1976, heavily influenced by the sound of the early Byrds (pre-Gram Parsons and Clarence White) - their name comes from a line in “Chimes of Freedom”. They started out as duo (Tony Poole and Ross McGeeney) and expanded to a full band (with Iain Whitmore playing bass). They have recently reformed as a duo again (apparently having lost contact with the other former members), and playing a mixture of compositions by the two of them (both from the 1970s and new) and songs by the Byrds and Dylan.
