18th November 2014 at Queen Elizabeth Hall (Front Room), London SE1.
London Jazz Festival (free event), www.londonjazzfestival.org.uk/.
Country: Britain. Style: Jazz - Modern / World.
Lineup: Paul Booth (tenor sax/soprano sax/flute/alto flute/low whistle/p/percussion), Giorgio Serci (g), Davide Mantovani (bass g), Ernesto Simpson (d), Satin Singh (percussion), Victoria Newton (v).
Paul Booth spends a lot of time away from the Jazz scene playing in bands like that of Stevie Winwood. With this project he mixes Jazz with some of his favourite styles of World Music (Brazilian, Afro-Venezuelan, Afro-Peruvian, etc.). The band was an internal one: Serci from Sardinia, Mantovani from Ferrera in Emilia-Romagna, Simpson from Camaguey, Cuba and Newton from Perth, WA. I’ve seen all of the musicians (except Newton) before with other bands, but only photographed Booth with Stan Tracey and Mantovani with Zoe Rahman (to view click on the tags of their names).
