10th August 2014 at Golders Hill Park (Bandstand), London NW11.

(free event).

Country: Britain. Style: Popular Music.

Lineup: Claudio Allodi (chromatic accordion), Chris Maxwell (d) and unidentified guitarist.
If anyone can tell me the name of the guitarist, I would be most grateful.

Claudio Allodi’s father, Bruno, came to the UK from Parma in 1956, and set up an Accordion selling and making business. Claudio’s function band performs a wide variety of musical styles, including a strong element of Italian music. It usually includes a vocalist and his bother Emilio on bass guitar. This bandstand concert took place on a day when the tail-end of hurricane Bertha was crossing the country. This meant that for safety reasons there was no amplification, and the audience was small. The band was happy to base their performance around requests from the audience. Which meant plenty of songs from musicals and also hits from the 1950s and 60s. The Italian related material they played consisted of those songs which are the most famous internationally: That’s Amore, Arrivederci Roma, O Sole Mio, etc.
In this photo: Claudio Allodi plays an Allodi Accordion.
