22nd July 2014 at the Clapham Grand, London SW11.

Country: United States. Style: Rock Music / Latin styles.

Lineup: David Hidalgo (v/g/accordion), Cesar Rosas (v/g), Louie Perez (g/jarana jarocha/d), Steve Berlin (tenor sax/baritone sax/keyboards), Conrad Lozano (bass g), Enrique "Bugs" Gonzalez (d).

Los Lobos started out in the 1970s in Los Angeles playing a mix of Rock’n’Roll and traditional Mexican music (corridos, rancheras, son jarocho, norteños). They are all second or third generation Mexican-Americans (apart from Mexican born Cesar Rosas and Anglo Steve Berlin - who joined the original high schoolmates from the Blasters in the 1980s). The lineup has been remarkably consistent, with only the drummers/percussionists changing. The band have veered backwards and forwards between Rock and Latin music over the years. Mostly placing themselves closer to the former, but including in the mix some Cumbia, Salsa or Cha Cha sung in Spanish.
In this photo: Hidalgo plays a Fender 51 Nocaster Relic (a reproduction of an early Telecaster).
