New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, www.nojazzfest.com/. A focus of this year’s Jazzfest was the music of Brazil, and there were performances on some of the stages, a special tent (Casa Do Brasil) and parades around the Fair Grounds.

Country: Brazil. Style: Capoeira.

Lineup: 11 musicians playing Atabaques, Caxixis, Pandeiro and Berimbaus (including guests Mestre Lua Rasta [Gilson Fernades] and Mestre Canguru [Waldec Vellasco Cota], and dancers.

Ginga Mundo are from Salvador in Bahia in eastern Brazil and were formed in 2004 by Mestre Sabia [Jair Olivera de Faria Jr]. They perform the martial art/dance style Capoeira, and have schools in numerous countries.
