15th April 2014 at LSO St Lukes, London EC1.

Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk - Gaelic.

Lineup: Kenna Campbell (v), Seamus Campbell (v), Maggie Macdonald (v), Mary Ann Kennedy (v/p), Wilma Kennedy (v) with Lorne MacDougall (low whistle/border pipes), Finlay Wells (g), Euan Burton (b), Nic Gareiss (step dancer).

The Campbells (Na Cambeulaich) are from Greepe in Skye, though they have moved to the mainland, where the younger generation were born. The group consists of brother and sister Kenna and Seamus, their niece Maggie (daughter of sister Ann) and Kenna’s daughters Mary Ann and Wilma. All five have won Medals for Gaelic singing at the annual National Mod (a competitive festival of Gaelic culture). Family members were part of two previous groups - Na h-Eilthirich and Cliar. The Campbells were joined by accompanying musicians and American step dancer Nic Gareiss. I took photos of the Campbell at the Late Night Sessions at Celtic Connections in 2011: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157625936806458/, and of Lorne MacDougall with is own band at this year's Festival: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157640491939975/.
