7th March 2014 at SOAS (Brunei Gallery), London WC1.

Part of SOAS Concert Series (free event), in collaboration with Second International Bagpipe Conference.

Country: Britain (including Scotland). Style: Traditional English Folk.

Lineup: Andy May (northumbrian smallpipes), Sophy Ball (fiddle), Victoria Laurenson (piano accordion), Ian Stephenson (g).

Andy May is from Gateshead and has released two albums (“The Yellow Haired Laddie” and “Happy Hours”). He is also a member of Jez Lowe’s Bad Pennies and Baltic Crossing. He performs regularly with fellow Tynesiders Ball and Stephenson, and was joined here by Shetland-born Newcastle-based Laurenson of the group NE3 Folk. I took photos of both May and Stephenson in the latter's Trio in 2012, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157629126433709/.
