25th (or rather early hours of 26th) January 2014 at the Piping Centre, Glasgow.

Late Night Sessions, Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Ireland & Britain - Scotland & Canada - Cape Breton. Style: Traditional Irish, Scottish & Cape Breton Folk.

Lineup: Aoife Scott (v/bodhrán), Mairi Rankin (fiddle/stepdance), Ailie Robertson (electro-harp), Fiona Black (piano accordion), Cillian O'Dálaigh (g/stepdance).

I saw the Outside Track the next day supporting Kathleen MacInnes, but here they are at the Late Night Sessions. This multi-national band was formed by students at the Irish Music Academy at the Univeristy of Limerick, including Ailie Robertson (from Edinburgh); and Fiona Black (from Evanton in Easter Ross). The other founders - Tricia Clark (from Derbyshire), Alan Jordan (from Co. Mayo) and Norah Rendell (from Vancover) - have since left the group. They have been replaced by Mairi Rankin (from Mabou, Cape Breton and part of the Rankin family), Cillian O'Dálaigh (born in Germany to an Irish father and another Music Academy graduate) and Aoife Scott (from Dublin and one of the Black family).
