26th January 2014 at the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow.

Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk.

Lineup: Lorne MacDougall (highland pipes/low whistle), Hannah Fisher (fiddle), Rebecca Brown (fiddle), Fiona Hunter (cello), Sorren Maclean (g), Duncan Lyall (b), Fraser Stone (d) and guests: Darren Maclean (v), Julie Fowlis (v), Kyle Howie (highland pipes), Dougie McCance (highland pipes).

Lorne McDougall from Carradale in Kintyre was one of the 2014 “New Voices” artists at Celtic Connections. He followed his Mitchell Theatre gig with an appearance later at the Festival Club. For the former the core band was supplemented by Gaelic singers Darren Maclean and Julie Fowlis, plus two pipers who play alongside MacDougall in the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Out of the band lineup I’ve previously taken photos of Lorne MacDougall (with Ross Kennedy at last year’s festival), Fiona Hunter (with Malinky) and Duncan Lyall (with Damian O’Kane and his own group).
