Karl Seglem from Årdalstangen in Sogn og Fjordane (western Norway) plays jazz with a substantial element of traditional Norwegian music. This was the fourth time I’ve seen him and the groups have swung from an emphasis on the traditional (Vek) to free form Jazz (Isglem). This group was more like straight ahead Jazz. Seglem linked up with three musicians already playing together as the Eple Trio for an album in 2009, and they have now released a second one.
