Jim Bainbridge is from South Shields and started out in the mid 1960s in a local band the Marsden Rattlers. 10th October 2013 at Horseshoe, London EC1 (floorspot at Jim Bainbridge gig)

Islington Folk Club, www.islingtonfolkclub.co.uk/ifc.html.

Country: Britain. Style: Blues.

Lineup: Simon Hindley (v/resonator g).

Simon Hindley is best known as a Blues guitarist (though he may also be a Classical clarinetist (depending on whether or not you believe the suggestion on the Possum Lickers web site). For his solo spot he played on a Tricone Resonator Guitar made by the National Reso-Phonic company (they adopted the name and trademark of the original National String Co of the 1920/30s). He had a busy night, also playing Traditional English tunes with the Club’s resident band the Angel Band (for photos see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157626284981092/) and joining Ken Hall and Peta Webb to provide harmonies on the Bluegrass/Old Time song “Auction at the Home Place”.

Carolyn Forbes (from Australia) and Stephen Moncrieff (from Liverpool) have been performing together since 2008, until recently using the name the Raven. The former plays flute and concertina. I’ve seen them numerous times as a support act, mostly at Fok on Monday.
