4th October 2013 at King and Queen, London W1.

Musical Traditions Folk Club, www.englishfolkinfo.org.uk/mustrad/mtc.html.

Country: United States (British resident) & Britain. Style: Contemporary & Traditional American & English Folk.

Lineup: Peggy Seeger (v/banjo/g/autoharp), Sandra Kerr (v/concertina/g/autoharp) with guest: Peta Webb (v).

Peggy Seeger, now aged 78, was born in New York City. She left the USA in 1955 and apart from returning there for 6 months in 1956-57 and from 1994 to 2010 has lived in Britain since (aside from a couple of short spells in continental Europe). Best known for her 3 decades long year partnership with Ewan MacColl, she has in recent years been a solo performer. This was the third time I’ve seen her live (including a 70th Birthday concert when she was joined on stage by her three children, brother Mike and half brother Pete. For this gig she teamed up with Sandra Kerr, a fellow member of the Critics Group in the 1960s-70s. I’ve seen Sandra several times solo, with the trans-national harmony group Vocal Union, and most recently as part of Sisters Unlimited. For photos of the latter, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157631656593671/.
