4th August 2013 at Horniman Museum (Bandstand), London SE23.

Part of Fiesta Latina (free event).

Country: Peru (British resident). Style: Andean / Fusion.

Line Up: "Kanti Kena" [Carlos Saldaña] (v/g/siku/quena/choquela/tarka/charango/etc.), "Phaxsi Coca"[Jeanette Rojas] (v/ siku/quena/choquela/tarka/etc.), Feng Bao (g), Jimmy Martinez [dep] (bass g), Avouye de Alejandro Lopez (d), Kieffer Santander (cajón/congas/bongos/etc.) and guests Carlos Niño (güira), Raymi (shaker).

Formed in 2009, this band combines traditional Andean music with other South American rhythms and with other styles. The first half of their set was Kanti Kena and Phaxsi Coca playing traditional instruments (sometimes with the two percussionists) and the second half was the full band moving in more of a Fusion direction. I took photos of Lokandes two years ago supporting Susana Baca (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157626858908204/) and more recently band members Kanti Kena, Kieffer Santander and Phaxsi Coca with Los Chinches (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157633452975785/) and Warmi (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157635004787941/).
