11th July 2013 at Golders Hill Park (Café), London NW11.

(free event).

Country: Britain. Style: Jazz - Swing Manouche.

Lineup: John Etheridge (g), Christian Garrick (violin), Dave Kelbie (g), George Trebar (b) and Guest: Vimala Rowe (v).

John Etheridge and Christian Garrick have regularly performed together since a 1998 album “Sweet Chorus” in tribute to Stephane Grappelli. I took photos of them in 2010 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157625028840968/), and of the guitarist playing Modern Jazz with Derek Nash and others a few months ago (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157634170846083/). I’ve seen Dave Kelbie playing rhythm guitar for Angelo Debarre (he has done the same for several visiting Swing Manouche guitarists) and in Django à la Créole with clarinetist Evan Christopher. A number of different bass players have completed the Quartet. Today it was George Trebar of Rythme Futur. Towards the end of the gig Vimala Rowe was called from the audience to join the band for a song (she was scheduled to play with Etheridge at Parliament Hill Café the next day).
