Nell Ní Chróinín is from Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh in the Múscraí Gaeltacht of northwest Cork. She started to learn sean-nós singing aged 10 through attending Oireachtas na Gaeilge events, and is very influenced by local singers like Máire Ní Cheilleachar and Eoiní Maidhcí Ó Suilleabháin.
