Born in Toronto, he moved to Britain in 1952 and by the 1970s he had established himself as one of the leading instrumentalists and composers in European Jazz. I’ve seen him three times since 2004 with a small group, at the old and new Vortex, accompanied by the same musicians or many of them. In the 1980s both Parricelli and France were in Loose Tubes, and Laurence has played with John Surman and John Taylor amongst others.
