21st October 2012 at Union Chapel, London N1.
Country: Unitred States. Style: Klezmer & other styles.
Lineup: Lorin Sklamberg (v/piano accordion/g), Frank London (trumpet/keyboards), Matt Darriau (alto sax/clarinet/kaval), Lisa Gutkin (violin), Paul Morrissett (bass g/tsimbl), Richie Barshay (d) and guests: Sophie Solomon (violin), Ian Watson (chromatic accordion).
Formed in New York in 1986, this band has been one of the best known of the Klezmer revival. Three of the original members remain - Sklamberg, London and Morrissett (the original violinist was fired in extremely controversial circumstances). They were joined by two British guests - Sophie Solomon (once of Oi-Va-Voi and recently appointed Artistic Director of the Jewish Music Institute) and Ian Watson (apart from working with Solomon, he is mostly found playing classical music - though I have seen him collaborating with a Japanese sho player Mayumi Miyata).
