26th October 2012 at London Irish Centre (McNamara Hall), London NW1.

Return to Camden Town Festival, www.returntocamden.org/.

Country: Ireland (including Scottish resident) & Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Irish & Scottish Folk.

Lineup: Cathal McConnell (v/flute/whistle), Brendan Begley (v/button accordion), Kevin Henderson (fiddle), Malcolm Stitt (g).

This band goes as far back as 1967 though Cathal McConnell (from Bellanaleck, Co. Fermanagh) is the only “original of the spieces” (Brendan Begley’s phrase) who remains. He was jouined at this gig by Brendan Begley (from Baile na bPoc, Co. Kerry), Kevin Henderson (Shetland Islands), and Malcolm Stitt (Fort William). The last was sitting in for his successor in the band, Garry O’Briain, who was ill. I have taken photos of Cathal McConnell as part of a duo with Duncan Wood: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157627623132251/.
