9th October 2012 at Old Queen’s Head, London N1.

“Green Note Presents”, Promoted by the Green Note Café but not at their normal home www.greennote.co.uk/.

Country: United States - Texas. Style: Americana / Folk.

Lineup: Eliza Gilkyson (v/g), Jens Lysdal (g).

Eliza Gilkyson comes from a musical family (father and brother also musicians, sister a music industry executive). Brought up in Los Angeles, and (apart from a few years in Switzerland) she has moved between that state, New Mexico and Texas (Austin between 1981 and 87 and again from 1994 onwards). Recording her first album in 1969, she has adopted a number of different styles including apparently a “New Age” period. These days her music is most usually categorised as Folk (presumably in the way the label is applied to all acoustic singer-songwriters), but there is also a Country influence. This was the fourth time I’ve seen her and four different guitar players have accompanied her. This time it was Jens Lysdal from Denmark, previously I saw her with Jeff Plankenhorn, Rich Brotherton and Mike Hardwick.
