The Cobla Sant Jordi, from Barcelona and founded in 1983, is one of the best known Cobla ensembles. These bands of mainly wind and brass instruments accompany the Sardana dance. Several of the instruments such as the flabiol, tible, tenora and fiscorn are specific to Catalonia. The Jazz saxophonist Tim Garland did a guest spot with the band playing a couple of his own compositions.
