11th June 2012 at Ruskin House, Croydon, Surrey.

Croydon Folk Club, www.croydonfolkclub.org.uk/.

Country: Britain. Style: Traditional Irish Folk & own compositions.

Lineup: Karin Tweed (piano accordion), Kevin Dempsey (v/g).

Karen Tweed was brought up in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Her mother was Irish and she became interested in Irish traditional music. Though along the way she has absorbed many other styles, this influence is still the main one on her playing. In the past I’ve seen her as part of a duo with Roger Wilson and as a member of Swåp and the Poozies. However, these are only a few of her numerous collaborations. This duo with Kevin Dempsey is a recent addition. From Coventry, he has been part of Dando Shaft, Whippersnapper and Uiscedwr (I saw him with the last of these in 2006 at Towersey).
