10th May 2012 at Horseshoe, London EC1.

Islington Folk Club, www.islingtonfolkclub.co.uk/ifc.html.

Country: United States. Style: Contemporary & Traditional American Folk.

Lineup: Anne Price (v/g), Steve Suffet (v/g).

Anne Price and Steve Suffet are both in their mid 60s, and were both born and live today in NYC. Between 2003 and 2008 they came together as part of McDougal Street Rent party, and since that group dissolved play together as a duo as well as by themselves. They bill themselves as “old fashioned folksingers” and perform a lot of labour songs by people like Woody Guthrie and Utah Phillips and some humorous and traditional songs (often with a strong emphasis on choruses). As well as many in a traditional style written by Suffet – at this performance about a mining disaster, outlaws and forgotten Brooklyn landmarks, the Gowanus Canal and the Evergreen line of the Long Island Rail Road.
