12th February 2012 at Dingwalls, London NW1.

Country: United States - New Orleans. Style: Traditional Jazz - Vocals.

Lineup: Meschiya Lake (v), Benjamin Polcher (trumpet), Charlie Halloran (trombone), Russell Welch (g), Jason Jurzak (sousaphone), Mike Voelker (d), Charles Bushman (dancer), Amy Johnson (dancer).

Most of this band arrived in New Orleans in the last decade from places including South Dakota (Lake), New York (Polcher) and St Louis (Halloran). Many of them started performing in the streets of the French Quartet as part of the rotating membership of a band called the Loose Marbles. Meschiya Lake & the Little Big Horns were formed in 2009 and play a contemporary take on Traditional Jazz. This was their first UK tour, having been taken up by the British Swing Dance movement. At this gig they shared joint billing with the Wiyos, as they had at Celtic Connections the week before.
