Jim Causley was born in Exeter and brought up near Whimple in East Devon (he now lives in Cornwall). He moved to Newcastle for the folk and traditional music degree course at the University, meeting Emily Portman and Lauren McCormick with whom he formed a harmony trio The Devil’s Interval. Since then he has worked solo (apart from a spell linking up with the band Mawkin as Mawkin:Causley) singing both unaccompanied and with the piano accordion.
