8th March 2012 at Barbican, London EC2.

Country: United States. Style: Americana.

Lineup: Gary Louris (v/g/harmonica), Mark Olson (v/g), Karen Grotberg (p/keyboards/v), Marc Perlman (bass g/v), Tim O'Reagan (d/v) and guest: Chuck Prophet (g).

Along with Uncle Tupelo, the Jawhawks were one of the key bands in popularising Alt-Country in the 1980s. Formed in Minniapolis, MN in 1985, they disbanded in 2004. Louris and Perlman were in the band from the beginning to the end, Olsen from the beginning to 1995, Grotberg from 1992 to 1999 and O’Reagan from 1995 to the end. From 2005 the two key band members, Louris and Olsen, started playing together again (I saw them in 2008 at the Union Chapel in London as an acoustic duo with a percussionist). In 2009 the Jayhawks starting touring again with this lineup.
