2nd March 2012 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (Front Room), London SE1.

Friday Tonic (free event).

Country: Israel (British Resident). Style: Jazz / World / Rock.

Lineup: Koby Israelite (piano accordion/d/cajon/sopranino sax/banjo/iphone), Oren Marshall (tuba) and guest: Omri Shay (g).

Koby Israelite grew up in Tel Aviv, Israel in a family from the Balkans. He played drums in Rock and Metal bands before discovering the music of Taraf de Haidouks and learnt to play the accordion. He moved to London aged 22. It is difficult to place any label on his music which ranges across numerous genres. Oren Marshall is from London (though born in Geneva) He has played in both classical orchestras and Jazz groups (including Loose Tubes) with ventures into African and Latin music. This duo is a recent project, although the two have played together previously in a trio with a tabla player. Israelite played a variety of different instruments, including an iPhone. Marshall got a wide range off different sounds from his tuba, including something resembling fuzz guitar. They were joined towards the end of the gig by Omri Shay on acoustic and electric guitars.
