26th February 2012 at Cabbage Patch (Function Room), Twickenham, Middlesex.

Twick Folk, www.twickfolk.co.uk/.

Country: Britain. Style: Traditional English Folk.

Lineup: Jim Moray (v/g/p).

From Shropshire, now living in Bristol. With his sister Jackie (also a Folk performer), Doug Oates grew up with English Traditional Music. For his musical career he has taken the name Jim Moray. He rejects what he sees as the barriers others use to divide Folk from other types of music. In a relatively short career he has adopted a variety of different sounds. For a while he played with an electric band, more recently an acoustic one (and for this show he was solo). Moray has written his own songs, though this gig (and his latest album) was based around English traditional songs - albeit some of them rewritten by him.
