Country: Britain. Style: Jazz - Traditional.

LLineup: Tony O'Sullivan (trumpet), Mike Pointon (trombone/v), Terry Giles (clarinet/alto sax), Andy Maynard (tenor banjo), John Sirett (b), Colin Bowden (d).

This band was formed in 1989 to revive the spirit of the Crane River Jazz Band, itself founded in 1949 and seminal to the start of the British New Orleans Jazz Revival. It was the idea of Sonny Morris and Ben Marshall, both founder members of the Crane River Band. Neither are part of the Delta Jazz Band today (Morris died in 2000), but three of the original members - Colin Bowden (who played in the Ken Colyer Band), Terry Giles and John Sirett remain. The group has announced that after it has fulfilled its current bookings its life will come to an end.
