18th February 2012 at the Irish Cultural Centre, Hammersmith, London W6.

Country: Britain (inc Scotland) & Ireland (British resident) & France. Style: Irish Traditional Folk.

Lineup: Niall Keegan (flute), Jean-Michel Veillon (flute), Paul Gallagher (flute), Aidan Burke (fiddle), Niopha Keegan (fiddle), Brendan Mulkere (fiddle), Matt Tighe (fiddle), Sinead Egan (p), Mark Maguire (bodhrán).

After Jean-Michel Veillon’s solo performance the second half of the evening featured a rotating group of performers playing Irish Traditional Music. What they had it common (apart from Veillon who returned for the funal tunes) was that they were either current or formers students of Brendan Mulkere (director of the traditional Irish Music Programme at the Irish Cultural Centre) or had played in the past with one of his former students Niall Keegan (now director of the Traditional Irish Music Performance Masters at the University of Limerick). Apart from Mulkere (from Co. Clare) they were all London (or Glasgow) Irish. The musicians included Niall’s sister Niopha (of the Unthanks), Mark Maguire (of Deaf Shepherd), Aidan Burke (of Comas) and Paul Gallagher (of Le Cheile).
