31st December 2011 at National Theatre (Djanogly Concert Pitch), London SE1.

Free Foyer Music.

Country: Britain. Style: Jazz -Swing Manouche / Vocal.

Lineup: Sara Mitra (v), Patrick Naylor (g), Tim Robinson (g), Alex Keen (b).

When I’ve seen Viper’s Dream in the past the core lineup of two guitarists and a bassist were joined by either an accordion or clarinet player. For photos of the latter see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157624946932639/. This time they had a vocalist. Which mean fewer Django Reinhardt tunes, and a sprinkling of standards (I Only Have Eyes for You, I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Sunny Side of the Street, Sweet Georgia Brown). The singer was Sara Mitra, from Harlow with an Indian father and an Irish mother. She has released an album, mostly of her own compositions, backed by some well known British Modern Jazz musicians.
