5th October 2011 at St Ethelburga’s, London EC2.

Part of "Listen to the World" series.

Country: Cuba. Style: Cuban Son.

Lineup: David Echevarria (v/bongos/cowbell/maraca/güiro), Vicente Pablo Arencibia Mena (v/conga/claves/bongos), Adolfo "Fito" Florian (g/tres), Alejandro "Fletcha" Albar (tres/g/güiro/v), Juan Luiz “Luz Brillante“ Alarcon (bongos/cowbell/cajon/conga), Michel "Pata" Salazar (b).

Asere were formed in the mid 1990s. There was been a considerable turnover of musicians. Only Vicente Arencibia and Juan Luis Alarcon remain from their first (1997) album. Those who have departed include guitarist Adan Pedroso and bassist/musical director Denny Martinez who moved to the UK. Michel Padron, who joined in 1998, took over as musical director in 2001 (he was absent from this gig, and hoping to join the tour later). This was a new departure for the band playing unamplified without microphones.
