Mohammad Reza Shajarain (born in Mashhad in north eastern Iran in 1940) is the singer of Classical Persian music who is best known internationally. I saw him a couple of times with a small group consisting of Hossein Alizadeh (tar), Kayhan Kalhor (kamacheh), and his son Homayoun Shajarian (tombak/v), who now tours under his own name. In recent years, M.R Shajarian has performed with a larger group, the Shahnaz Ensemble, which includes his daughter Mojgan and its director Majid Derakhshani.
