This group call themsrlves a "folk/improv piano trio", and is a take on the Classical Piano Trio. It consists of Joseph Peach (from Achiltibuie in Ross-shire), Alice Allen (from Banchory, Aberdeenshire) and Laura Jane Wilkie (from Tain, Ross-shire). The group was formed in August 2022 to meet a commission given to Wilkie by Eden Court in Inverness. They released their debut EP "The Greatness of Unravelling" last year. I have taken phoros of all three before. Sam Amidon is from Brattleboro, Vermont, and now based in London. From a young age he played with a family band. His parents Peter and Mary Alice were members of Bread and Puppet Theater. His younger brother Stefan Amidon is a drummer with the Sweetback Sisters, who saw in 2012 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157629355429851/). As well as his background in Traditional American Folk, Sam Amidon is influenced by Jazz, Experimental and Classical Music. He is known for his reworkings of traditional ballads, hymns, work songs, etc.
