On the eve of Christmas Day, Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque New Mexico is lit by the traditional farolitos or Luminarias which signify the bonfires lit to guide the wise men to the place of birth of their new born lord and savior.
It is a well-honored tradition in New Mexico and the plaza is crowded with holiday merriment including carolling on the band stand, creches of all manner including living , barn-yard animals, Street-Vendors, and naturally, Santa Himself.
Today has been the first day that I have been able to get out for a bit after having surgery performed on the 13th. It was a brisk 28degrees but, all-in-all a wonderful break from the tedium of recovery!
