I wrapped tissue paper around tealight candles and set them afloat in a tray of water. The reflections and black background make the candles look as though they are floating in space.

Submission for the Canon Photo 5 competition, 'spaghetti / portraiture' brief.

I froze broken spaghetti in a plastic cup which when peeled away left its shape. I used side lighting to light the scene, focused on the spaghetti and a shallow DOF to keep the face out of focus.

I bought tent pegs with lights in the top that illuminate the tent.

Canon 7D, Sigma 10-20, 30 second exposure, ISO 3200.

Submission for the Canon Photo 5 competition, 'little people / scale' brief.

I used macro tubes to get in close to the little people, giving the bonzai tree, lichen and pebbles a reverse sense of scale against the miniatures. The shallow DOF draws the eye into the scene.

Submission for the Canon Photo 5 competition, 'fishing wire / black and white' brief.

I hung loops of fishing wire on the guitar to blend naturally with the nylon strings. I top lit the guitar to highlight the strings and fishing wire but keep the rest of the guitar in the dark.
