And now for something completely different... After reading quite some books on WW II, Enigma, Bletchley Park and what not I decided to look for a shortwave interception receiver that was in heavy use by the allies. The RCA AR-88 forms a story of its own.I found 2 which eventually have to become 1 fully functioning machine. I started with small jobs. Here you see the display before cleaning it. Long live biodegradable mild detergents, water, Displex, Tipp-Ex, gold markers and tape!

This receiver's front panel got an ugly grey paint job with the nomenclature engraved in a very bad way, probably somewhere in the fifties.
