This is my neighbor's all-star wakesurfer son, Campbell.
I've been working on a start-up company and our new camera product... a video camera slider that we're launching next week. It'll be exciting to see how that goes!

Christmas Eve in the Atacama Desert :) We sat and watched the shadow roll across the valley then the brilliant colors in the sky come back toward the sun behind us. Unforgettable. This shot is actually part of a timelapse set, which I will get uploaded once I learn a bit more about editing timelapse sequences.

This is in the Atacama Desert at the El Tatio geyser field. We stopped to eat and these gulls came scavenging. I manually focused at about 5 feet and set the aperture tight to f/10 -- the daylight was intense, so I was still shooting at 1/640s. The sharpness isn't perfect, but the motion blur in the back wing kindof gives it a shallow depth of field look. Anyways, I was just rapid firing and this was my favorite from the set.
Note: I titled this "Bonaparte's Gull" originally. My bird expert friend informed me that it is an Andean Gull, so the title is corrected :)

Meet Lightheart. His mother died in childbirth, and lucky for him, my Mom found him. He has gotten a bit bigger since then! He is incredibly tame. So much so that it was hard to get him far enough away to get this shot. Lightheart is a European Red Deer stag and lives on Deer Dancer Ranch in Texas.

I was interested in the mechanics of Flickr's Interestingness and Explore and how photographers can leverage these tools for growth, so I decided to do some research. I spoke with Flickr Product Manager
Cynthia Johanson, I scoured the interwebs for information and found Kevin Dooley's insightful set of essays, and I interviewed one of the best wildlife photographers in the world, Hennie van Heerdan. The result is an article that I compiled for MIT Entrepreneurship Review; follow the link to check it out: Sparking a Photography Career. I would be thrilled to know your feedback!
